Hi, I’m Kirsti (as you may have guessed).

I like to write stuff. Mostly about food, fitness and travel but I have been known to dabble in the world of gadgets and tech. As luck would have it, I live in Cape Town, South Africa – which sometimes feels like the foodie-fittie capital of the universe.

Over the course of my career, I’ve been given two pieces of advice about writing that have stuck with me. The first? Horribly cliché, but no less true because of it: write what you know. The second… well, more on that one later.

Back to one. I currently write for one of SA’s biggest magazines. And I freakin’ love my job. But I don’t often get to research, explore and write about my passions: travel, health and fitness. So, as these things tend to do when you’re a writer, they come bubbling out of you eventually – and my Instagram ‘microblog’ was born. @itsmekirsti is a space I carved out to share insights about my journey through the mindboggling, magical world of food and exercise, and their effects on the extraordinary human body – mostly my body.

The blog, I hope, will become an extension of that. Now, I’m by no means an expert in any of these fields – which is why I want this site to become the means through which I delve deeper into these things. Experiment, talk to experts, talk to influencers, test stuff out, experiment some more…

So, if you have burning questions – from weights to weight loss or where to get the best pizza in Cape Town – ask me. Use the contact form to get in touch. And I’ll do the digging for you.

Oh, you’re probably still wondering about that second piece of writing advice. It’s a quote by Ernest Hemingway. Write drunk, edit sober.

Hey, I just said it stuck with me – I never said I practised it.

That often.

Hi, I’m Kirsti and this is my little blog. Tell me what you think in the comments section below!

Hi Kirsti! My name is Yongjae (pronounced young+jay), and I hail from sunnyside California (insert avocado jokes here). As a major foodie, have you ever tried In-N-Out burgers?

I came across your site because I too *love* food as well as talking about my experiences. You seem really interesting, so I thought I’d introduce myself!

    Cheers,
    Yj
